A Los Angeles woman granted time to celebrate the life and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. chose to honor him by finally marathoning Firefly.
“I’ve heard from so many people that it’s amazing, and it was great to have a day to myself to see what all the fuss is about,” the 26-year-old receptionist explained. “At last, I’ll have something to say when it comes up in conversation.”
In addition to reflecting on the strides made toward racial equality King represented and the way he helped to correct the horrific level of terror and violence that Americans of black ancestry faced for so long, she also cheerfully reflected on “the weirdly light rush hour traffic!”
She was also grateful that the day of honor and reflection on this important historical figure allowed her to celebrate late into the night before. She honored him with a new nail polish she bought and an entire bottle of wine.
When asked if she had any regrets about the way she spent her day, she said she’s “just as heartbroken as everyone said I would be about the way Firefly ended. May it rest in peace.”
