Fan theory that Mark would hate to see perfectly good marshmallows go to waste confirmed in Severance Episode 4

Credit where credit is due to the eagle-eyed viewers who called it after the first episode of Severance Season 2 – theories that Mark S. (Adam Scott) would hate to see perfectly good marshmallows go to waste were finally just confirmed in episode 4.

Mark S. aghast at what’s become of the marshmallows

20 minutes into the latest episode, Mr. Milchick (Tramell Tillman) leads our favorite MDR team to a snowy forest clearing that has been set up with tents and a fire, which Milchick says, “will be used for marshmallows and a recital later.” “Mark-Shmallow” theorizers all over the internet were already losing their minds.

Four minutes later, we see a closeup of the marshmallows while the team sits around the fire with Mr. Milchick and Miss Huang (Sarah Bock). Just the sight of those marshmallows was enough to all but confirm what fans have suspected on Reddit for weeks– that Mark seemed like the type of guy who would absolutely hate it if something bad happened to some nice-looking marshmallows.

The writers could have left it there, but they erased any remaining doubt with what happened next. After Helly R. (Britt Lower) laughed at some important Lumon lore, Mr. Milchick instructed Miss Huang to throw the marshmallows into the fire, and to Mark’s dismay, she did.

“THE LOOK ON MARK’S FACE SAYS IT ALL!” one Reddit user wrote victoriously after the episode.

My oh my, did it ever! There was no mistaking the shock and disappointment in Mark’s expression as he watched the fire ruin all the marshmallows that surely would have been enjoyable if given the chance.

“Looking back, it’s so obvious. It all makes sense now,” another user commented.

Pat yourselves on the back, Severance fans– you earned this. We can’t wait to see what revelations this show rewards us with next week!
